It is very obvious that Apple is giving the iPhone much more attention than the rest of its products. Do you want to know why? Well, the fact that the iPhone’s business is greater than all of Microsoft’s business may help you understand. If you recall, MG Siegler reported back in February that Microsoft’s revenue was $20.89 billion in the last quarter while Apple brought in $46.33 billion. So do you think a product of such great importance to the fruit company will be announced side by side to other Apple products like the iPad mini, new iPod nano or the iPod touch? I don’t think so.
The iPhone stands today as the world’s most profitable product without doubt and the most important product in Apple’s lineup. That being said, the fruit company will not make the mistake of allowing other product like the iPad mini or the iPod nano to steal the thunder from the anticipated next generation iPhone on the 12th of September. The most likely scenario would be that the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 will be unveiled at the media event. It is possible however that the iPod touch will show an appearance.
So what about the iPad mini and the all new iPod nano? John Gruber suggested (and I couldn’t agree more with him) that it is very likely that Apple will be holding two events. One for the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 release on the 12th of September, and another one sometime in October when Apple holds its usual ‘music event’ for the iPod nano and the iPad mini.
