The biggest problem you are faced with when it comes to jailbreaking your iPhone with a broken home button is getting your device to work in DFU mode. You probably know that this is an essential and one of the early steps in the jailbreaking process. The iPhone Dev team came up with the perfect solution to this problem and pushed the latest RedSn0w update.

With RedSn0w 0.9.13dev3, you can get your device into DFU mode by creating a firmware file to do so. The following video will show you exactly how.

1-      Download and open RedSn0w 0.9.13dev3

2-      Select Extras> Even More> DFU IPSW on the RedSn0w window.

3-      Tap OK on the pop up window

4-      Search for a valid IPSW file from Apple and select it.

5-       RedSn0w 0.9.13dev3 should automatically create a new IPSW file which should take your device into DFU mode. The new firmware file will be placed in the same place as that of your original firmware file but “ENTER_DFU” will be added at the beginning of the name.

6-      Using a USB cable, connect your iPhone to your PC and open iTunes. Click on your device in your iTunes sidebar.

7-      Now, tap and hold the Option key or the shift button if you are using a Windows PC and hit the Restore button.

8-      Select your “ENTER_DFU……….” IPSW file and tap OK.

9-      Sit back and watch your device go into DFU mode upon restore. You should be faced with a black screen if things go the way they should.
